Landscape–Roidis Studio was commissioned to develop the landscape masterplan for the new wing of the five-star Kinetta Beach Resort & Spa, located along the coastal edge of Kinetta. Occupying a 10,000 m² expansion site adjacent to the existing resort, the project transforms a previously undeveloped area into a distinctive hospitality landscape defined by water, vegetation, and outdoor living.
At the outset of the design process, a single mature pine tree stood as the site’s only significant natural feature. Rather than treating it as an isolated element, the design positions the tree at the center of the landscape composition, allowing it to become both a spatial landmark and a defining component of the resort’s identity.
Organized around this focal point, a network of swimming pools, lagoon-inspired water features, dining terraces, and relaxation areas creates a series of interconnected outdoor environments. Pedestrian pathways weave through the landscape, linking the new wing with the existing hotel complex while encouraging movement, discovery, and engagement with the site.
The design strategy was informed by the restrained architectural language of the new buildings, allowing the landscape to assume a more prominent role in shaping the character of the development. Planting design was carefully deployed to screen service areas, establish privacy, and create a layered spatial experience, while material selections and plant species were chosen in response to the site's coastal conditions and Mediterranean climate.
Through the integration of water, shade, and planting, the project establishes a cohesive landscape framework that enhances the guest experience while reinforcing a strong sense of place. The preserved pine tree remains the symbolic heart of the composition, demonstrating how a single existing element can inspire and organize an entire landscape narrative.
