Landscape–Roidis Studio developed the comprehensive landscape masterplan for the five-star Royal Myconian Hotel at Elia Beach, one of Mykonos’ most dramatic coastal settings. Positioned on a steep hillside overlooking the Aegean Sea, the project responds to the site's challenging topography through a carefully orchestrated landscape strategy that integrates architecture, circulation, and outdoor living.

The design establishes a cohesive relationship between the hotel’s principal amenities, including the main swimming pool, pool bar, arrival areas, and the private gardens serving the bungalow accommodations. Rather than resisting the terrain, the landscape embraces the natural contours of the site, creating a sequence of terraces, pathways, and outdoor spaces that frame views toward the sea while enhancing the guest experience.

A key component of the project was the development of a planting palette capable of thriving under the demanding climatic conditions of the Cyclades. Native and climate-adapted species were selected for their resilience to strong winds, intense sunlight, and coastal exposure, while contributing texture, color, and seasonal variation throughout the landscape.

The hardscape design draws inspiration from the vernacular architecture of Mykonos, incorporating natural stone paving, retaining walls, and freestanding masonry elements that echo the materiality and craftsmanship of the island’s built environment. These interventions establish a strong sense of place while providing the structural framework necessary to navigate the site's significant changes in elevation.

The result is a landscape that balances hospitality, topography, and local identity. Through the integration of architecture, planting, and traditional material references, the project creates a refined resort environment that is deeply connected to the landscape and cultural character of Mykonos.
