Landscape Roidis Studio was commissioned by Anthemus Sea S.A. to provide comprehensive landscape architecture services —from concept design through detailed design and implementation supervision— for the 6,000 m² outdoor environment of the Anthemus Sea Beach Hotel & Spa, a five-star beachfront resort in Sithonia, Chalkidiki.

Set directly on the shoreline, the project sought to establish a seamless relationship between architecture, landscape, and the sea, transforming the resort’s outdoor spaces into a sequence of distinctive environments that enhance the guest experience while celebrating the exceptional coastal setting. The commission encompassed all aspects of landscape design, including site planning, retaining structures, circulation systems, parking areas, paving, landscape lighting, earthworks, and planting design.

At the heart of the composition lies a large central swimming pool positioned between the hotel’s building volumes and oriented toward panoramic sea views. Designed on two interconnected levels, the upper pool accommodates children while the lower pool serves adult guests. A small island within the water preserves an existing olive tree, transforming a characteristic element of the Mediterranean landscape into a memorable focal point and a defining feature of the resort.

The restaurant terraces extend towards the waterfront, creating a direct visual and spatial connection with the coastline and allowing outdoor dining to become an integral part of the hospitality experience. Throughout the site, the landscape is organized as a series of outdoor rooms for relaxation, recreation, and social interaction, carefully framed by planting and architectural elements.

Material selection draws inspiration from the local context, combining natural stone and beige marble accents to create a refined yet regionally grounded palette. The planting strategy relies on native and climate-adapted species capable of thriving in the demanding coastal environment while reinforcing the natural character of Sithonia. Together, landscape, architecture, and the sea are woven into a cohesive resort environment that reflects the identity of the region while offering guests an immersive Mediterranean experience.
