Commissioned by Fibran S.A. in 2013, Landscape–Roidis Design Studio developed the comprehensive landscape masterplan for Alkmini Nursing Home in Terpni, within the Municipality of Serres. Covering a 10,000 m² site, the project was conceived as a therapeutic and restorative environment that enhances the daily lives of residents through a strong connection to nature, movement, and outdoor living.

The design prioritizes accessibility, comfort, and wellbeing, creating a landscape that supports both physical activity and social interaction. A network of barrier-free pathways encourages safe and enjoyable walking, while a series of seating areas, shaded gardens, and gathering spaces offer opportunities for rest, contemplation, and community engagement.

Careful attention was given to the spatial organization of the site, ensuring that outdoor areas remain easily accessible and visually connected to the building. Planting compositions were designed to provide seasonal interest, color, texture, and sensory stimulation, enriching the experience of residents throughout the year while framing views towards the surrounding landscape and the village of Terpni.

The landscape strategy combines functionality with a refined aesthetic approach, integrating planting, circulation, lighting, and outdoor amenities into a cohesive environment. The result is a welcoming setting that promotes wellbeing and independence while maintaining a sense of dignity and comfort for its users.

Rather than functioning solely as an institutional outdoor space, the landscape was envisioned as an integral part of the living environment—one that offers the quality, atmosphere, and attention to detail typically associated with high-end hospitality destinations. Through the careful integration of nature and design, the project creates a supportive and uplifting environment that enhances the everyday experience of residents and visitors alike.
