Serfiotou sq. is located in one of the most populated area in the heart of PIRAEUS. It is situated among multistorey buildings and its little greenery is fenced. It has very narrow pedestrian ways and only a few sitting places. Landscape -Roidis was commissioned by Pireas Plus SA to redesign the square and the pedestrian ways of its perimeter roads. The scope is to give enough walking room to pedestrians and the disabled, to increase the greenery, to use cold paving materials for bioclimatic purposes and organize the private cars’ parking around the square. Landscape-Roidis’s landscape design, following bioclimatic criteria from the master plan up to detailed design, give more room to pedestrian ways within the square itself, organize better the parking lots, pave parking lots and pedestrian ways with cold materials, reorganize the bus stop, place the underground garbage cans in appropriate areas, increase the greenery and the lighting and finally creates a square impressive and friendly to pedestrians.
