Paradise Simantro

Paradise Simantro

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Commissioned in 1992 by Eurotouristiki S.A., Landscape–Roidis Studio developed the comprehensive landscape design for the 25,000 m² outdoor environment of the five-star Simantro Beach Hotel in Sani, Chalkidiki. Set within a pine-covered coastal landscape, the project sought to establish a seamless relationship between architecture, climate, and the surrounding natural environment.

The landscape strategy was guided by bioclimatic principles, prioritising environmental performance, user comfort, and long-term sustainability. Permeable paving systems were incorporated throughout the site to support natural water infiltration and reduce surface runoff, while the planting design was carefully tailored to the climatic conditions of Chalkidiki, ensuring resilience, low maintenance, and year-round visual quality.

A defining aspect of the project was the integration of the landscape with the hotel’s distinctive monastery-inspired architecture. The planting composition, spatial organisation, and material palette were conceived to reinforce the character of the built environment, creating a harmonious transition between the architectural forms and the surrounding coastal setting.

Native and Mediterranean species were strategically combined to frame views, provide shade, and enrich the visitor experience, while preserving the natural identity of the site. The result is a cohesive landscape that enhances the hotel’s sense of place, balancing ecological sensitivity with the expectations of a high-end hospitality destination.
