Panhellenic Architecture Competition in Filothei

Panhellenic Architecture Competition in Filothei

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

The area of the competition was in Filothei, in Athens. The brief was asking for the redesign of the park space, in order to be easy for the locals to visit it and use it. The final design had to create plazas, walking paths, planting, but without reducing the existing green space coverage. A main plaza was created in the centre of the area (5). It’s purpose was a point that people can rest. It is defined by its circular shape and the water that was introduced. Two paths (1) are connecting this point with the main road (4). Another curved path (2) was designed. Its purpose is to be a jogging path and that’s why it goes along the site. At the northern part of the area the land was raised and tall trees were proposed to be planted (3). That was done in order to reduce the noise of the cars from the close by road with heavy traffic.
