The Tagarades Landfill Rehabilitation project by Landscape–Roidis Studio proposes the environmental restoration and landscape transformation of a former landfill into a resilient, ecologically integrated, and publicly accessible green landscape. Conceived as a long-term reclamation strategy, the project demonstrates how degraded post-industrial land can be reimagined as a valuable environmental and community asset.

The design is based on a comprehensive rehabilitation framework that combines technical stabilization with ecological restoration. Initial interventions focus on reshaping the landfill body, controlling erosion, improving drainage, and establishing suitable soil conditions to support long-term vegetation growth. These measures provide the foundation for the gradual recovery of the site's ecological functions.

A carefully developed planting strategy forms the core of the proposal. Native trees, shrubs, and groundcover species, selected for their adaptability to local climatic and soil conditions, are introduced to restore biodiversity, enhance habitat connectivity, and strengthen the site's environmental resilience. Over time, the landscape is designed to evolve through natural ecological succession, allowing the restored environment to integrate seamlessly with the surrounding landscape.

Beyond environmental rehabilitation, the project introduces a network of pedestrian paths, viewing points, and open green spaces that reconnect the local community with a previously inaccessible site.
