Landscape–Roidis Studio was commissioned to develop the master plan for an extensive green roof as part of a hotel development in Jalë, Albania. Conceived as a natural extension of the surrounding landscape, the design draws inspiration from the region’s distinctive Mediterranean vegetation and coastal ecology.

The planting strategy was carefully composed using species adapted to the local climatic conditions, creating a resilient and low-maintenance landscape that reinforces biodiversity while enhancing the building’s environmental performance. Through patterns, textures, and seasonal variation, the green roof echoes the character of the surrounding terrain, visually integrating the architecture into its setting.

The project demonstrates how landscape architecture can transform roofscapes into ecologically valuable spaces that contribute to sustainability, improve the visitor experience, and strengthen the relationship between contemporary architecture and the natural landscape.
