PIRAEUS is the main port of Greece. Kleisovis and Karpathou are two roads meet each other in Karpathou sq. They connect two main seaside roads of the Piraeus. The area where the roads are located, is over populated and there is a lack of greenery, easy accessible pedestrian routes, ramps for the disabled, routes for the blind and organized parking plots. Landscape -Roidis was commissioned by Pireas Plus SA to redesign both the road’s aside pedestrian routes, in order to give enough walking room to pedestrians and the disabled, to increase the greenery, to use cold paving materials for bioclimatic purposes and take care of the random parking of private cars.
Landscape-Roidis’s landscape design, following bioclimatic criteria from the master plan up to detailed design, give more room to pedestrian ways, bicycle routs, organize better the parking lots, pave parking lots and pedestrian ways with cold materials, reorganize the bus stop, place the underground garbage -cans in appropriate areas, increase the greenery and the lighting and finally creates an impressive road, friendly to pedestrians.
